K-12 Programs

K-12 Outreach

We live in a digital world, where new, exciting, IT related careers are ever evolving. As new paths emerge, we aim to empower young students with resources and skills needed to help businesses do good.

One of the programs under this initiative is the NCWIT’s Aspire IT program that will engage young girls in rising grades 4th to 9th in fun projects that utilize emerging technologies to address current social problems. Some of the technologies that students will engage in are: MIT’s App Inventor, MIT’s Scratch, Internet of Things (IoT), Lego Robotics/Sphero, and 3-D Design/printing. The Aspire IT program is partly funded by the National Center for Women in IT (NCWIT) and supported by the Association of University Women (AAUW) Greensboro Branch. The 2018 week-long camp was held at Appalachian State University from Monday, July 23rd - Friday, July 27th, 2018.

Registration for our 2019 camp will open in January! For more questions, email innovate@appstate.edu
